In 2 Corinthians 9:7, the Bible tells us that “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
In the Old Testament book of Proverbs, we are told to “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce” (Proverbs 3:9)
We believe whatever we have in our life, whether great or small, is a blessing from God. We want to give the first fruits of our time, our talents and our energy as an act of worship to God. Our finances should be no different from any other part of our life.
At Calvary Chapel Napa we encourage Christians to give “cheerfully” as God leads, in everything from their time to their money. We put no compulsion on anyone about how much they give or if they give at all, believing that the Holy Spirit is perfectly capable of dealing with each of God’s Children on His own. We simply make the means available for people to give cheerfully (2 Cor 9:7) and to honor God with our first fruits (Proverbs 3:9).
